A very fine North Indian katar emulating a simple form, yet aesthetically constructed. The blade double- edged and made of crystalline wootz steel. Two central fullers are present separated by a prominent mid-rib spawning into a thickened armor pierecing tip (zirrah bouk).
The iron hilt of three cross-bar form that protrude the side bars. Decorated with zig-zag and linear gold koftgari decor on the front and rear face and meandering floral motifs on the sides. The sheath is wood covered leather with pierced brass mounts in traveling vinework. The sheath is contemporary, custom made by the previous owner. A beautiful piece with most of the gold kofgari still kept intact.
