A large club known as an iwisa knobkerrie used by numerous groups in Eastern and Southern Africa. This example is slightly larger than the average, both in length and knob diameter without being the larger executioner form. Carved from one piece hardwood. The name derives from the Afrikaans word "knop" (knob or ball) and the khoekhoe or San word "kirri," meaning walking stick. Likely from the British South African War campaign period of the late 19th - early 20th century.
