A khanjar from the South Lebanese city of Jezzine, widely known for their manufacture of cutlery. Many of their wares include horn or bone handles carved in the form of birds and fish. These knives are particularly noted for their intricate and beautiful colorful inlays. This example is a later production around the middle of the 20th century.

The straight double- edged steel blade is spear shaped with a central fuller spanning 3/4 length to an acute point. The hilt of bone in a non- congruent cylindrical shape. Brass cross guard and pommel cap. The hilt and cross guard are decorated with red and blue plastic inlays.
The sheath of a wooden interior covered in brass sheet in stippled floral designs. On the reverse, stippled "Jezzine" in Arabic. Attached are two iron suspension rings. A good quality mid- century Jezzine knife.
