A very old Mexican machete from the late 19th to the early 20th century with a beautifully carved horse head grip. The steel blade, single-edged with Spanish script and floral motifs; a deep stamp with the Mexican town "Ayutla", engravings of "Ayutla" in fanciful script within a boxed area. "Soy (Su?) Valor," which possibly translates (I am your value or I am brave?) Reverse side engraved with the Mexican state "Guerrero" and "De Mi Dueno," translated (Of my owner). Bovine hilt carved with a horse head pommel.
