A rare type of Sudanese arm dagger associated with the Darfur region of Sudan. The steel blade is double- edged with a medial ridge between two shallow outside fullers and chamfered edges. Decorated in finely incised zig- zag line work up the blade. The tip is slightly blunted. The hilt is carved from rhinoceros horn with a circular disc pommel. Coloration of a dark brown with fibrous structure grain.

Most examples collected tend to be from the late 19th century, specifically the 1870s through the 1880s. Very similar pieces can be seen in Dr. Wilhelm Junker's Travels in Africa 1875 - 1886, atrributed to Darfur. (Photo 8). A rare arm dagger in excellent shape with no nicks, chips, breaks, or holes. Missing its sheath.
