A M30 Gasschutzmaske or gas mask from the pre-war of Nazi Germany reign made by Auer in Berlin. The facepiece is rubber coated canvas. Metal socket eye frame with yellow celluloid anti-fog eyepieces. Each lense is stamped "AB 1936" for Auer Berlin. Canvas harness with the elasticity provided by six spring straps, five pointed, with an additional neck and carrying strap (5+2). The number "2" marked on the inside of the facepiece for normal or medium size. Grey metal ventilation shaft. Period original filtration apparatus consisting of a cotton base and 2nd model snout marked in white "130" and "A2B". Filter number on the top stamped in black "AB112KH35" and stamped "24.8.1936". Waffenamt stamp on filter. "S" Filter" label for civilian air space.

Auer ribbed steel storage can with latch lock and strap. The spare lens insert compartment is empty. An all original, pre-war example in very good condition. Early Auer civil defense masks for the Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB). Many earlier masks like these that predate World War II were later used during the war period when ample supplies became lacking.
