A European knife from the ancient city of Albacete, Spain, a city well known for their cutlery and knife production since the 15th century. This barrel style, reminiscent of plug bayonets, has been common since the 18th century. Most are of the same basic form with slight variation in materials and decoration.

This example has a single- edged steel blade that tapers to a long sharp point. The last 1/3 having a false edge. The center is pierced and decorated in floral punch dot incisions. Steel cross guard. The barrel hilt is composed of a brass collar and pommel, separated by a bone center grip with inlaid brass braided wire and stippled zig- zag designs. Missing its sheath. Dating to around the third quarter of the 19th century.
