A beautifully painted samavar from Afghanistan. Urn shaped and made of copper with a brass cover and handle, with an iron base, and tap and key. The body is ornately painted in brightly covered scenes, possibly of a man courting his companion on the front right and left side surrounded by floral adorments of poppies. On the back side is a painted mosque with untranslated script. The lid has painted birds in flight, all in a Persian style of art. Minor chips to paint.
